Rob Garrett as Neil Diamond in Las Vegas
ROB GARRETT’S “King of Diamonds” Vegas residency show keeps going strong in the “MODERN SHOWROOMS” at Alexis Park Resort Hotel.
Neil Diamond is one of the best-selling and most iconic singer/songwriters in pop/rock music history.
More than just being one of the best-selling and record-breaking touring artists ever, he’s also created and performed the music that defined generations — including some of the most recognized songs on the planet.
In January 2018, shortly before his 77th birthday, Neil Diamond announced his retirement from performing after being diagnosed with Parkinson’s.
However, Diamond’s concert legacy continues to be celebrated for audiences across the globe through Las Vegas entertainer Rob Garrett, often called “the best of the best”.
Ask Google “who is America’s number one Neil Diamond tribute artist,” and you’ll hear the same name.
Like his idol, Rob Garrett was born in Brooklyn, NY.
In May 1974, his parents moved the family from New York City to Las Vegas, where, at age 16, he witnessed his first live Neil Diamond show when Diamond debuted in Las Vegas to record crowds at the Aladdin Theater for the Performing Arts (now “PH Live”) in July 1976.
Garrett went on to see him another 16 times across the country—right up until Diamond’s final U.S. concert at the LA Forum on August 12, 2017.
In 1980, Garrett created his own band, “Rock n Roll Heaven,” and enjoyed a successful 15-year run in Las Vegas and across the nation before transitioning from lead singer of a cover band to a tribute artist dedicated to one of his childhood heroes.
In 1995, Garrett was selected by Paul Revere (of The Raiders) to portray Neil Diamond in the “Legends in Concert” show in Honolulu, Hawaii.
What was meant to be a three-month trial turned into a long-term hit show.
By August 1998, Garrett was back in Vegas and continued to perform with “Legends” for another couple of years before deciding to launch his own show.
He began a nationwide performance schedule, building a large and loyal following along the way—earning the title “King of Diamonds.”
He continues to sell out theaters nationwide, often in venues fit for superstars.
Garrett has also received multiple accolades, including “Male Tribute Artist of the Year.”
“Since he Rob Garrett Neil Diamond Tribute Artist Las Vegas (Diamond) announced his retirement, I’ve felt a strong sense of responsibility to keep his legacy alive for future generations. It’s something I never get tired of doing,” he said.
On May 19, 2025 officially proclaimed the date “Rob Garrett Day,” commemorating Rob’s 50 years as a Las Vegas resident and 44 years as a professional Vegas performer.
Now in the year 2025, Garrett celebrates 45 years as an active Las Vegas entertainer, with the last 30 years devoted solely to paying tribute to the now-retired Neil Diamond.
It has been said that no other tribute artist is so closely identified with the original performer as Garrett, who has played in more Vegas rooms than any peer.
Since the June closing of “A Beautiful Noise” (the Broadway jukebox musical based on Diamond’s life story), Rob Garrett’s “King of Diamonds” show has become the only continuous Neil Diamond tribute in the U.S..
Alexis Park Resort Hotel is located at 375 E. Harmon Ave., about a quarter mile from Paradise Road.
